Difference Between Male & Female Deodorant

Naturally, men & women are different from each other in many ways, in their personal needs, in their body languages, in their styles & so on. But when it comes to personal care products, men & women need some basic products like body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, razor, deodorant, etc. Most of the times the manufacturer launch the same types of products in 2 different categories, one is more male & another for female. But the question is does every product need to be differentiated according to gender? May be or maybe not, actually, that’s a very broad discussion. Here we are going to clarify to you about the differentiation on one personal care product which is differentiated according to gender most of the time. That is deodorant.

Don’t think that there is anything new to say about the uses of deodorant. It’s almost impossible to find one house which doesn’t have any deodorant, either it’s for a male or female. Deodorant is used to protect the body from odor & to feel a longer-lasting freshness. Men & women of all ages use deodorants in their daily routine.

The Key Difference Between Male & Female Deodorant

In case you are a man, have you ever used a deodorant that is made for women? If yes then it will be easier for you to understand the key differences between men & women deodorants. You may think that as the manufacturers make different deodorants for males & females then there must be some huge differences that make them do this. But the truth is there is not any key difference between the deodorants made for men & women. Those are identically similar, the same type of ingredients & the same formula is used to make deodorants for males & females. If you see the ingredients of the same branded deodorants for men & deodorants for women then you will hardly find any major ingredient change. So it’s clear that deodorants for male & deodorants for women are identical twins in case you compare the key ingredients. Even though there are some minor but remarkable differences between men’s & women’s deodorant. Some of them are as stated below:

Difference In Fragrances

If there is any change in the ingredients of deodorants for male & female then you can never identify this while you are using a deodorant. The first difference you will notice is the fragrance. Normally men’s deodorant has a hard & spicy fragrance that is more desirable for covering body odor. Nevertheless, men & women don’t sweat differently. Yes, one may sweat a lot & others may sweat less. But, commonly, everyone will create body odor during hard work.

The main features that most of the manufacturers show in men’s deodorant fragrances are sports deodorant, spicy fragrance, very long-lasting fragrance, masking stinks, etc. The reason behind is that men tend to attend more physical activities compared to females. So it’s clear that they will need a strong mask to cover body odor. On the other hand, women’s deodorants have sweet, mild & floral fragrance & the aim is to keep a woman fresh all day long.

Although men’s deodorants indeed contain more fragrance comparing to women’s deodorants. According to many famous deodorant brands, females deodorants contain 15.2 percentage of fragrances & on the other hand males deodorants contain 18.2 percentage of fragrances. But this doesn’t make men’s deodorants better than women’s deodorant. It only indicates the strength of the fragrance present in the deodorants. How long the fragrance will stay & how much it will cover body odor depends on the quality of fragrances used.

Difference In Packaging

As men’s & women’s clothes are different from each other, that’s how men & women deodorants have different types of packaging.

Usually, men’s deodorants have darker color packaging & the name given reflects masculinity. On the other hand, women’s deodorant has light-colored packaging with flower pattern. Most of the bottles of females deodorants are slimmer & lightweight too comparing to men’s deodorant.

Difference In Application

Armpits hair is a common issue for both males & female which occurs with maturity. All the deodorants are mainly used in armpits. That’s why armpits hair affects the application of deodorant.

It’s very hard to find a man who shaves his armpits regularly. Sometimes a man goes for months without shaving his armpits hair. That’s why most of the manufacturers make the male’s deodorants with a glide-on formula that confirms easy application even if you have hairs in your underarms. The deodorant also will work perfectly without considering whether you have armpits hair or not.

The story of armpits hair in the case of a female is different. Females love to keep their armpits clean & shave their armpits regularly. Especially if anyone loves to wear sleeveless dresses then armpits hair is like a nightmare for her. That’s why many manufacturers consider that women will not have armpits hair for a long time & based on this they make the deodorants for women which may have difficulties in the application & may not provide perfect results having armpits hair.

The Difference In Having Antiperspirant

Actually, it’s not a difference like the above 3. Antiperspirant deodorants are very popular now as those deodorants control excessive perspiration & body odor at a time. But the thing is, as it is believed that men attend more active physical activities that’s why the number of deodorants for men that includes antiperspirant is higher than the number of deodorants for women that includes antiperspirant. The main ingredient that is used in antiperspirant deodorants is Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex which is also slightly higher sometimes in males deodorants compared to females deodorants.

So now you know the main differences between male & female deodorant. Sometimes the differences also depend on your personal preferences. But if you are a man & feel comfortable with the fragrance of a female deodorant then there is nothing wrong to use that. A woman can do the same as well. There are also some unisex deodorants like the Natural Deodorants which can be used by both men & women without hesitation & without thinking about any difference.
