Ways to Boost Your Energy Levels

At the end of the day, fatigue sets in. Or in the early morning, you still want to take those extra few minutes because you do not feel fully rested. If you are feeling like this, trust me, you are not alone.  This may not be gender-related, but, studies show that women are more susceptible to this fatigue feeling than men.

Many of us are facing the same fatigue, same tiredness, day in day out. Then you begin to wonder what could be wrong and more importantly how can I get better. What steps must you take to stop this feeling of energy-drain? Being constantly struggling with a tired feeling can eventually affect your personal and professional life.  There may come a time when you have to let go of the activities which you used to love. But, there is nothing to lose heart. Most of the health issues tied with a nagging tiredness can be curable. All you need to do is to take care of certain steps towards a healthy and fit lifestyle. Let me give a few bright ideas here which can help you to overcome this feeling.

Take the First Step

•    As the first step towards good health, check the food you are eating. Is your food healthy enough? Eating a balanced diet can work wonders for you because it contains all nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. If after balanced diets, you are not feeling energized, try adding a bit of magnesium to your diet.

You get plenty of magnesium from

1.    Fish

2.    Whole grains, almonds, Cashews, Quinoa

3.    Tofu, Sesame seeds

Breakfast-The all-important meal

•    When it comes to food, remember never to skip your breakfast. I understand that today’s living demands us to be on our toes most of the time. But, before you rush out to meet the challenges of the day, make sure you have enough energy to meet the needs. Breakfast provides you with the necessary boost to start the day on a positive note. It is the first food intake you have after at least an 8 hours break.

  Go, take a walk. Early morning walks can do wonders for you. It makes you feel light, boosts your digestive system, and helps heart getting healthier. Have some fresh air, meet your casual friends on the way, and make a better beginning to your otherwise routine life.

Stress- The Energy Buster 

•    Take a look at your daily life. Are you too stressed? Stress can sap your energy level. Have some “me-time”. Keep aside those cell phones, tablets, laptops. Switch off your TV. The sky will not fall if you are not constantly connected with the virtual world. Instead, take a nap of 15 minutes. Better still, listen to some music you are fond of and sing along! I know it is easier said than done. But, if you apply yourself, nothing is impossible.

   And yes, drink plenty of water. Nutritionists advise having minimum 8 glasses of water every day. You may feel tired if your body is fighting against dehydration. So drink more water and less alcohol.

Do a Medical Check-up

  Last but, not the least, check your thyroid function. If after having a full night’s sleep, you still feel exhausted, it can be due to thyroid dysfunction or even anaemia. Both these cases will require expert medical advice.

Having said this let me tell you one more thing. Leading a healthy life does not mean only eating right foods or going for exercises at the break of the dawn. It also means, leading a life full of laughter, fun, and healthy bonding with family members. Take time out for yourself and your own. Live a full life.
