Get good sleep

No matter if you are awake or sleeping – our brains are always working. When we are asleep, our brains assimilate the information that we have acquired throughout the day and boost our cognitive abilities.

Thus, when you don’t sleep properly at night, you lose in two ways. First, your brain is not able to consolidate information in a way it should, and second, a sleep-deprived night also interferes with your brain’s functioning the next day!

Exercise regularly

Exercising regularly not only keeps you fit and fine but also keeps your brain healthy. When you exercise daily, it helps the brain in releasing more never growth factors which help in repairing your brain cells.

Thus, if you want to boost your brain health and want to enhance the release of nerve growth factors, it is highly recommended to do more of balance and strength training.

Nurture positive relationships

Positive relationships that we nurture in our life not only keep us happy but also help us in strengthening our cognitive skills. This is because we tend to learn more with the like-minded people.

If your spouse is good at remembering someone’s name, they would help you expand your cognitive skills too. In other words, your relationships can help you make a more al-rounded person.

Quit smoking

Needless to say, smoking is very injurious to your health, it not only affects us physically but as per a recent study conducted on 20,000 smokers, and people who smoked between a half and one pack daily were 44% more prone to developing dementia in the later stages of life.

On the other hand, people who smoked but quit had no significant changes and showed no increased risk of dementia.

This perhaps gave you a reason as to why you should stop smoking. But, as easy as it might seem, quitting smoking is not an easy task.
