Why Social Isolation Shouldn’t Affect You

Social isolation is defined as being ostracised from a group of individuals.  This can occur for a myriad of reasons. Usually, individuals who have unconventional views, political perspectives or those who suffer from mental health disorders are usually isolated in social gatherings.

This isolation can further affect the individual’s self-esteem and self-worth. However, if a group excludes you, you must not take it personally. The following elaborates on the reasons why social isolation should not affect you:

Find out the reason why

The first thing you need to do is understand why you are being isolated. If the reason is your fault, then you need to make amends. Swallow your pride and apologise for your wrongdoings.

However, if you are socially rejected for reasons which are beyond your control, make sure that you do not let this affect your mental and physical well-being. If you are having trouble coping, hire college essay help to make sure that you are allowing yourself the time to heal.

Accept your individuality

Currently, there are approximately 7.7 Billion people in the world. Each person has a purpose behind their existence. You, being a human, have your reason for coming into this world. While the cause of your presence may not have revealed itself yet, it doesn’t mean that it’s non-existent.

Being in this world, you contribute something or the other towards society. Hence, being out-casted from a group does not mean that your life is pointless. It just means that people do not understand your purpose just yet. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, even if that gets you out-casted!

You will not be alone forever

Considering this amount of people in the world; it is more than probable that you are not meant to be alone. Someday, someway, you will find someone who thinks the same way that you do. You will meet someone who can be the Yin to your yang, the peanut butter to your jelly, the chocolate to your cake.

You should not feel bad about being isolated by the people who do fail to appreciate you for who you are. If an individual is unable to see your perfection, they do not deserve you in the first place.

Choose quality over quantity

Like everything else in life. The quality of your social group should always be prioritized over the quantity.  The number of people you are surrounded by does not matter if they treat you in a disgraceful manner. Make sure that even if you have just one friend, the person is loyal; towards you, and is always there to listen and support you in everything that you do.

Recognize your worth

Emotionally secure individuals have a comprehensive understanding of their self-worth. When you are confident in your skills as a person, you will not get affected by other people’s opinions of you. You will only care about who you are and how you represent yourself while staying true to your beliefs. So, augment the confidence you have in yourself and strive to become the best version of you!
