He was also the former artistic director for luxury fashion giant, Louis Vuitton. These are just one of the many hybrid streetwear brands that are sold at a luxury price.

Shawn scribbled his name on the back of surfboards and, due to the demand, he began doing this with tees. It soon spiralled into a clothing brand across the United States and encouraged other streetwear brands to emerge.

Stussy is a much cheaper brand compared to the other streetwear brands that are out there today. Along with the style and originality, the price is one of the reasons why this brand is still going strong today. Shawn Stussy has not been involved with the brand since 1996. Nonetheless, it has collaborated with some of the biggest brands since its departure.

Supreme

Supreme is a brand that everybody knows who buys streetwear, which was founded not long after Stussy. However, they made the streetwear style more luxurious. Not to mention that the price tag is much higher compared to Stussy and other streetwear brands. Supreme did a marketing method that nobody was used to before in the fashion industry. When releasing clothes, they limited the number of items to make it rare.

Supreme is one of the most popular streetwear brands currently in the market. They have also collaborated with several fashion brands that are not part of the streetwear style. Louis Vuitton and Gucci are a couple of brands that have collaborated with Supreme. Most recently, they collaborated with Gucci to design a premium full tracksuit. They built hype up around the brand due to their “drops”, hence why they grew so quickly as a brand.

Palace

Palace, a UK streetwear brand, was founded back in 2009. Football hooligans alone took to this unique style in the United Kingdom. Now, it has become a brand for men across the UK. Despite only being founded in 2009, the popularity of this brand has taken hold for UK streetwear.

Like Supreme, Palace uses a similar marketing method to Supreme. Limiting their drops of clothing items to build hype around the brand. It is a marketing method that several streetwear brands do themselves now. Including the rest of the fashion industry.

A Bathing Ape

Moving over to the eastern part of the world, A Bathing Ape is a Japanese streetwear brand, founded in 1993. It is a highly popular brand that has managed to make its way across to the western part of the world. Additionally, it is one of those streetwear brands that is stocked on the shelves of Selfridges. One thing we know, Japanese streetwear is growing very quickly across the rest of the world.

A Bathing Ape is one of the oldest Japanese brands out there at the moment. Not to mention that it is also one of the biggest, designing clothes for women, men, children and, specialising in streetwear hoodies. There are many Japanese streetwear brands that you can choose from, and they are slowly moving their way over to the western part of the world. Another Japanese streetwear brand that you might have heard of is Neighborhood which was founded a year after BAPE.

Off-White

Off-White, the brand that was founded by Virgil Abloh, is one of the biggest influences on modern-day fashion as we know it today. The brand was founded back in 2012 although his experience within the fashion industry is far more than that.

Some people will consider this brand to be a high-end fashion and others will consider it as streetwear. Moreover, the streetwear market has gotten much larger, which has increased the value of streetwear clothes. Once upon a time, streetwear used to be affordable, now it is much more expensive. Supreme was the first brand to raise the prices of streetwear due to its marketing method. Nonetheless, streetwear can be expensive although it remains the same style that started with Shawn Stussy and James Jebbia.

Whether you consider Off-White to be a high-end fashion brand or a streetwear brand, it will become a lot more popular over the coming years if it is in the right hands.
