Ingredients of Dal Makhani Recipe
- Black Ural Dal
- Rajma
- Water
- Fresh Cream
- Oil
- Salt
- Dry Spices: red chili powder, turmeric powder, and coriander powder
- Ginger garlic paste
- Finely chopped onions
- Finely chopped tomatoes/tomato puree
- Chopped green chilies
- Garam Masala
- Cumin seeds
Instructions:
In order to prepare this popular dish, you have to start by soaking black Urad dal along with red kidney beans overnight. You can soak the same in three cups of water. Next day, drain all the water and put the mixture in the pressure cook with 4 cups of water and pinch of salt. With salt, the mixture becomes softer. 6 whistles will be enough. Grind the same!
Now take a deep bottomed pan and heat oil on a medium flame. Add cumin seeds along with ginger garlic paste. Start with adding onions, green chilies and tomato puree. Cook until oil starts separating from the mixture. Now add all the dry spices along with fresh cream.
Once the masala is cooked, add the mixture of grinded Rajma and dal in the same. Mix it well and adjust spices according to your taste. Add Garam masala on top and stir well. Add some more fresh cream and garnish the same with coriander leaves. Your recipe of dal makhni is ready!
Serve it hot with tandoori naan for a perfect meal. If you are planning to have lunch you can prepare this with Jeera rice. For dinners, it is preferred to have roti rather than rice, as it can be too starchy for dinner. Now enjoy the recipe with your family and share some with your neighbors.
